If you are just getting the Media Creation tool you do not need Rufus unless you are booting a computer with no operating system. OK Just stick it in and download the media creation tool and save it to the stick. If it says it is write protected then you either use it or you get another with out any write protection. Have you tried inserting it and looking at it in File Explorer and see if you can format it? Very likely I have to abandon this Microsoft Pendrive since I cannot reuse it and format it with the newest OS fresh installation.
